As I am moderately unemployed at the moment, I have my fair share of time to do what I want with. Unfortunately, if I do not act diligently my time often falls by the way side. Is it already nearing the end of August? My alarm clock is laughing at me... "sleep in little one... soon and very soon I will rudely disturb your sleep every single morning until Christmas". But anyways, I have spent a bit of this time doing something that is rather foreign to me - mindlessly searching the internet. Here are two links that are completely opposite but put two very different smiles on my face.
The first is funny. Jack McBrayer from 30 Rock - perhaps it's funnier if you know the character he plays - such an innocent guy - but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The second is serious. The author, Maria Fisher, describes a lot of my musings, in a way that I would never be able to do - oh how my 4/6 completed science degree lets me down! Read it, let me know what you think. I completely agree with her fear of embarrassment, though she claims it doesn't stem from pride. I think I may disagree, though very begrudgingly - who wants to admit to being proud? Definitely not me. And thus the tug-of-war between pride and low self-esteem that I find I am often in the middle of.

I hope you enjoy them both :)

I'm kind of disturbed to see Kenneth speaking such things...
ReplyDeleteFor the second, the link's broken sadly. Though I'll mention that you could have simplified 4/6 to 2/3... My guess is that may have been covered in the latter 1/3 of your degree.
